Stephanie McGregor is the NCAS PlayMaker of the Month for April. Stephanie is an outstanding gymnast and carries a 3.98 GPA in the undergraduate bioengineering program at Oregon State (wow!). She was hurt last season, but has continued to lead and serve as she recovers. She embodies the NCAS' mission to effect positive social change through the power of sport.

Corvallis -The National Consortium for Academics and Sports (NCAS) has announced that
Stephanie McGregor, a bioengineering student and gymnast at Oregon State University, has been
named its PlayMaker for the month of April. Each month, the NCAS selects a student from a
member-institution who demonstrates outstanding academic and athletic performance and who
is committed to using the power of sport to eect positive social change.
According to her advisor, Linda Johnson, Stephanie is a small, quiet, but strong force on the OSU
campus. In addition to her being an integral part of the vault and oor exercise lineups, Stephanie
carries a grade point average of 3.98 in her rigorous degree program.
Her experience at OSU has not been without challenges. Tragically, Stephanie tore her Achilles
tendon in December, causing her to miss the 2012 season. As she recovered, Stephanie
participated in Beavers Without Borders, a service trip to Ethiopia, where she built homes for two
families. She was also appointed co-president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)
during the Winter 2012 term and later that spring was elected president for the 2012-13 academic
year. While her injury impeded her ability to compete athletically, she eectively employed her
leadership skills in order to extend her contribution to the Athletics Department at OSU.
Stephanie continues to dedicate countless hours to community service as a member of the OSU
gymnastics team, leading her team mates to participate as well. She is an incredible ambassador
for the Beavers without Borders Program, OSU Gymnastics, and the Athletic Department.
