Ashley
Armstrong
Director, Western Region

Ashley
Armstrong is the Director of Student-Athlete Development at the University
of California, Los Angeles. In January 2007, she was named the Director
of the Western Regional Office at UCLA for the National Consortium
for Academics & Sports.
Prior
to joining the Bruin staff, Armstrong spent over 6 years as an Assistant
Athletic Director at the University of Louisville. In addition to
her responsibilities with the U of L Athletic Department, Armstrong
instructed a student-athlete life skills course for the College of
Education. Prior to her time at Louisville, Armstrong was as an academic
counselor for the women's athletic department at the University of
Tennessee, Knoxville. In 1995, she worked for the National Consortium
for Academic Sports (NCAS), at the University of Nevada, as a member
of the AmeriCorps/Athletes in Service to America program.
Armstrong
currently serves as a member of the NCAA Life Skills Advisory Board
and as a facilitator for the NCAA Diversity Education Workshops. She
has been a facilitator for the NCAA Leadership Conferences, NCAA Division
I Regional Leadership Conferences, NCAA Continuing Education Conferences,
and the 2004 AVCA Minority Volleyball Coaches Clinic.
A
native of Ventura, California, Armstrong was a member of the women's
volleyball team at the University of California, Davis, where she
earned a bachelor's degree in sociology in 1995. In 1998, Armstrong
earned a master's degree in sport administration from the University
of Tennessee.
