Jeff Konya
Director, Southwestern Region

Since fall 2006, Jeff Konya has been the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance & Student Services at Southern Methodist University. At SMU, Jeff is on the senior management team and leads the department's operations in NCAA compliance and CHAMPS Life Skills.

Prior to coming to SMU, he has served in similar capacities at the University of Memphis, University of Texas at San Antonio, Bucknell University, and the University of South Dakota. In addition to those primary athletic department duties, Jeff has served as a sports program supervisor, a ticket manager, a radio basketball commentator, a NCAA Peer Reviewer, served on Conference committees, and assisted in game operations for both the NCAA Final Four and NCAA Basketball Regional.

He holds an undergraduate degree from Princeton University (graduated 1995) and a J.D. with Distinction from the University of Iowa (graduated 1998). As an Adjunct Professor, he has previously taught courses in Sports Law, Sports Ethics, and Life Skills at the university level. His Life Skill programs are routinely recognized by the NCAA as a leader in the industry, and he has given several presentations at NCAA member institutions on various topics. Also, Jeff is a published author, and is currently working on a second fiction novel entitled "Streetball." He is an avid Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings fan.
