Bob Bradley has been a member of the University of Kentucky Athletics Administrative staff since 1977.
As Assistant Athletics Director for Student Services for 19 years, Bradley managed the daily operations of the Athletics Department's academic-athletic advising program. During Bob's tenure as Assistant Athletics Director, U.K. opened the Center for Academic and Tutorial Services (CATS), the first academic center for student-athletes in the nation. Under Bradley's direction many U.K. student-athletes have been honored for their academic achievements, both on a conference and national level. In 1989, U.K. won the College Football Association's (CFA) prestigious academic achievement award, given to the University with the highest graduation rate among its football players. Since the creation of the Southeastern Conference Honor Roll in 1984, U.K. has had 232 football players honored. That is more that any other league school.
Bob was promoted to Associate Athletics Director in 1997. His current responsibilities include administrative oversight of the Academic-Athletic Advising program and development and management of the University of Kentucky's Student-Athlete Life Skills program. The Life Skills program includes student athlete programs in Career development, Personal Development, Community and School Outreach.
In 1998 U.K. was selected to serve as a regional center for the National Consortium for Academics and Sports(NCAS). The NCAS is a prestigious organization whose mission is to educate student-athletes regarding societal issues and utilize those student-athletes to better society by mentoring the youth of America. Bradley was selected to serve as Director of the new NCAS Regional Office.
In September of 1999, the University of Kentucky was honored once more by being selected by the NCAA Division I-A Athletics Directors Association as a CHAMPS Life Skills "PROGRAM OF EXCELLENCE." One of the first 17 Universities in the nation so honored. The Program of Excellence is a lifetime award designed to recognize those athletics programs that have established student-athlete welfare as the cornerstone of their operating principles. Bradley was subsequently selected to serve on the Division I-A Athletics Directors Program of Excellence Steering Committee.
Bradley is a past president of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A) and currently serves on the Executive Board of the National Consortium for Academics and Sports. Bradley has twice been honored as "Academic Advisor of the Year", once in 1989 by the College football Association and again in 1992 by the N4A. In the fall of 2001, Bob was selected as the NCAA CHAMPS Life Skills "Coordinator of the Year" by the Division I-A Athletics Directors' Association.
