Robert is a native of the state of Florida and attended Ft. Pierce Central High School. While in high school, he was an outstanding two sport athlete. In 1978, he earned All-American honors in track. He was the Florida High School State champion in the 220-yd. dash. After his high school, Robert attended Arizona State University from 1978 to 1982. While at Arizona State University, he was a four-year starting running back alongside Gerald Riggs. He and Riggs became the first freshmen in the team’s history to be named starters. In 1982, he was drafted in the 2nd round to play in the National Football League. His six seasons in the NFL included winning the AFC Championship and an appearance in Super Bowl XX with the New England Patriots. He was voted NFL Man of the Year in 1986.

Robert is very active in community-based programs, working with mentally and physically challenged individuals. He also has an ongoing relationship with the Boys and Girls Clubs and he makes several yearly presentations for the D.A.R.E. program. He currently serves as the Associate Director for Outreach Training and Development for the National Consortium for Academics and Sports. Prior to joining the NCAS national staff, Robert worked for the Admission and Recruiting Department of Northeastern University. He has also served as the Outreach Coordinator for the Center for the Study of Sport in Society. Robert has received numerous award recognitions for his commitment to youth outreach services. In 1992, he received the Anti-Defamation League’s World of Difference Award, Outstanding Community Service Award from Frito-Lay and the Center for the Study of Sports’ Leadership Award for his work with the Project Teamwork program.

He has served as a personal trainer and football coach on the youth, high school, collegiate and professional level of competition. He is a highly requested motivational speaker for youth enrichment, diversity sensitivity and teambuilding development.
