Tomlinson, a senior on the Duke Blue Devil football team, has been an outstanding leader at his university, on his team, and worldwide.  Tomlinson and several of his teammates have traveled to Ethiopia to complete a well-digging mission in a remote village.  Tomlinson and his teammates completed one well and began construction on a second well during a two-week trip.  In addition to his efforts in Ethiopia, Tomlinson regularly visits children at the Ronald McDonald House in Durham, North Carolina, speaks with students at the Durham School of the Arts, and volunteers at the Durham Rescue Mission, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing food, shelter, and support to the needy.  A native of Chicago, Illinois, Tomlinson also spends time at his alma mater, Lane Technical High School helping student-athletes understand the importance of balancing education with athletics and how to prepare for college.  Tomlinson was the recipient of the 2014 Orange Bowl-FWAA Courage Award and the 2014 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, selection.Academically, Tomlinson has a 3.017 grade point average.  He has been twice named to the All-ACC Academic Football Team (2012, 2013) and three times on the ACC Academic Honor Roll (2011, 2012, 2013).  Tomlinson will soon be graduating with a double major in Evolutionary Anthropology and Psychology. Cooley, a junior outfielder on the Boston College Softball team is an advocate for universal education.  This past summer, Cooley traveled to Kuwait for a four-week summer aboard program.  Specifically, she studied “Politics and Oil in the Gulf.”  Upon her arrival to Kuwait, Cooley was shocked by the socialization of women in the country.  Her experience and observations led her to complete a research project that analyzed the justice system that women in Kuwait and the other Gulf States must endure.  This experience has led Cooley to advocating for universal education, especially for women. While committing to several community service and outreach projects and athletics, Cooley is able to maintain a 3.28 grade point average.  She has earned the Athletics Director’s Award for Academic Achievement in her first two years at Boston College.
